Frequently asked questions

The photo must be 40×50 mm. For online applications the digital file is 1200×1600 pixels, up to 5.1 MB. The head (chin to crown) should measure 32–36 mm. The system sizes it for you automatically.

Plain white. Take the photo against any background — the system removes it and puts in the right colour.

Frames must not cross the eyes; no flash reflection on glasses.

Yes. Tick “Baby or young child” before uploading. Lay your baby on a plain sheet and photograph from above — the system relaxes the rules that don’t apply to babies, such as eyes open.
